Two MDCC Basketball Players Receive Honors

Two Mississippi Delta Community College basketball players, Niya Head and Darrius Dukes, have received honors following the 2014-2015 basketball season.

The Lady Trojans’ Niya Head of Tchula was one of five players recently named to the 2015 MACJC All-State Basketball North Division First Team and one of ten players named to the NJCAA Region XXIII First team. The 5’10” sophomore forward scored 356 points in 23 games (15.5 points per game) with 23 assists and 15 steals for the season. Head scored 20 points or more in seven games this season. Her best game was a 27 point effort against Hinds Community College.

MDCC Trojans’ Darrius Dukes of Ashland was named to the MACJC All-State Basketball North Division Second Team. The 6’0” sophomore guard scored 280 points in 19 games (14.7 points per game) and 22 assists this season. Dukes scored 20 points or more in six games this season. His best effort was 34 points against East Mississippi.
