Mississippi Delta Community College (MDCC) held its 2016 Academic, Career and Technical Graduation Ceremony Friday, May 6, 2016 in the J.T. Hall Coliseum in Moorhead, Miss. This year, 311 graduates marched in Friday’s ceremony. Graduates from academic, career, and technical programs were awarded an Associate of Arts (AA), Associate of Applied Science (AAS), and/or a certificate from a one-year program.

The MDCC Concert Ensemble provided music for the prelude and the processional. Dr. Peter Jackson (MDCC Board of Trustees) provided the invocation with Dr. Ed Rice II (Vice President of Student Services) welcoming and recognizing guests in attendance. Dr. Larry Nabors (MDCC President) also gave opening remarks with special music provided by James Shannon (Director of MDCC Ambassadors and Singers) and Hannah Leflore (Student Vocalist).

MDCC’s Health Science Graduation Ceremony was held Thursday, May 5, 2016 with an additional 59 graduates participating. Thursday’s ceremony included graduates from the Associate Degree Nursing Program, the Dental Hygiene Program, and the Radiologic Technology Program.

Mississippi Delta is a comprehensive community college, which offers a wide variety of academic, career and technical courses in day, evening and online classes. The college also offers workforce training, adult education courses and continuing education courses.

Mississippi Delta Community College supports its students with a full range of student services including financial aid, counseling, and on-campus housing. MDCC instructors are well-trained professionals who are truly dedicated to the success of their students, both in the classroom and in their future careers. The college offers quality, collegiate level courses in small classes with individualized instruction.

In addition to the main campus in Moorhead, MDCC also offers classes at sites in Greenville and Greenwood as well as workforce training at the Charles W. Capps, Jr. Technology Center in Indianola.

Magdalene Abraham will address dozens of Mississippi Delta Community College health science majors at their commencement ceremony, scheduled for Thurs., May 5 at 10 a.m. at the J.T. Hall Coliseum in Moorhead, Miss.

The graduation and pinning ceremony will honor the college’s dental hygiene, radiologic technology and associate degree nursing graduates. The ceremony will be streamed live at www.msdelta.edu for those unable to attend.

Magdalene Abraham serves as the Spiritual Director and Retreat Facilitator of Locus Benedictus. She holds a B.A. in Interdisciplinary Science from the University of Mississippi and an M.S. in Natural Science from Delta State University. Ms. Abraham is a graduate of Our Lady of Divine Providence School of Spirituality, an affiliate of Franciscan University of Steubenville, OH. She taught at Pillow Academy in Greenwood, MS, Holmes Community College in Grenada, and MS Delta Community College where she was an instructor of Anatomy and Physiology, served as Chair of the Science Department, Dean of Academics, and later retired as Vice-President of Instruction.

The Health Science Division is comprised of Associate Degree Nursing, Dental Hygiene Technology, Medical Laboratory Technology, Radiologic Technology, Practical Nursing, Emergency Medical Technician, Health Care Assistant and Phlebotomy.
