Price “Buddy” Hodges III, Class of 1963

Buddy excelled as a running back on the football team earning conference honors as Most Outstanding Back in 1962 and Little All-American honors as a fullback in 1961 and 1962. During the 1962 season, he led a team that lost its first two games and then went 7-0, to win the college’s first outright State Championship. During the title game, Hodges rushed 30 times for 176 yards and three touchdowns. He was the Trojan’s leading rusher with 16 TD’s for the year. Hodges also helped the Trojans win State Championships in baseball and in track in 1962 and was a member of the “MD” Club for two years.

Price Hodges went on to letter two years in football at Mississippi State University in 1963 and 1964. During his junior year at State, he was the SEC’s second leading punt returner averaging 19.8 yards per return.
