Jimmy L. “Squirrel” Wade, Class of 1958

Jimmy played halfback for the Trojans for two years earning All-State honors his freshman year ad All-American honors as a sophomore. He was also a member of the SJC boxing team and won the State Championship while at SJC. Wade was a two-year member of the “S” Club.

Jimmy Wade continued his athletics and education at Delta State where he played football and baseball for the Statesmen.

Wade’s competitiveness shines through in his toughness. While in the hospital requiring stitches during a football game Wade reportedly jumped off the table, grabbed his helmet, ran back to the stadium and across the field ready to play.

Jimmy Wade was a faithful alumni and supporter of Mississippi Delta Community College who farmed and owned a gas station in Belzoni before his death in 1987.
