Benny Baker, Class of 1960

Baker was a standout funning back for the Trojans, lettering both years. He also served as Captain his sophomore year and received All-State Honorable Mention accolades that year. He also lettered two years in baseball as an outfielder and ran the mile relay for the Trojans track team, helping SJC win the State Championship one year. His fellow students recognized his athletic ability by voting him Most Athletic his sophomore year. Benny was also a member of the ā€œSā€ Club for two years.

Benny Baker was awarded a football scholarship to Colorado School of Mines but was side-lined with a knee injury during his first year.

Benny retired in February of 2000 after 34 years of mining and scrap iron recycling. During his career, he was issued two patents related to the automobile shredding industry and served as national Shredder Chairman for the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries.
