Joel Henderson, Class of 1969

Joel Henderson came to MDJC from Greenville High School where he played football, baseball, and ran track. He was an All-Big Eight Conference Honorable Mention selection in football for two years as a defensive end. During his senior year, the Hornets were runner-up for the North State Title and as a member of the track relay team GHS won in that event in the state championships.

In football Henderson played both ways for the Trojans, playing end on both offense and defense. He earned All-Star and All-State honors and played in the Junior College All Star Game as a sophomore earning Best Defensive player honors at MDJC. He was also the starting pitcher for the baseball team. Joel was also nominated Most Athletic by his fellow classmates.

After graduating from MDJC, Henderson went to Tulane University on a full scholarship and finished his athletic career starting at linebacker for two years for the Green Wave. After graduating from Tulane, Henderson went on to earn a law degree from the University of Mississippi School of Law and has practiced law since 1974. He became partner in Henderson Dantone P.A. since 1978.
