Football, Baseball, Track, Basketball, & Volleyball

George Aust lettered in every sport available at Sunflower Junior College. Aust came to SJC from Schlater where he participated in whatever sport was being played at Schlater High School. During the summer he was the leading home run hitter on the local baseball team.

After graduating high school Aust was prepared to help his father on the cotton farm, but was recruited by SJC to play football. Aust went on to play guard on the SJC football team for three years, outfielder for the baseball team for three years, and forward on the basketball team for two years. He also ran track for two years and even played volleyball for one year.

George Aust was offered a scholarship to play football at LSU but turned it down to go to work and help his parents.

After finishing at SJC Aust became active in the college’s Alumni Association and remained active until his death.
