Calvin Crawford

Crawford was part of the Sunflower Junior College’s defeat of the Southwest Bears 91-80. Crawford was the team’s third highest scorer with 15 points and was named to the college’s “S” Club both his freshman and sophomore years.

Crawford played at Delta State University where he was also a member of the Whirl Winds Basketball Team.

After graduation, Crawford worked for five years as a supervisor at Ludlow Textiles in Indianola. He then took over the family farm in Isola raising cotton, soybeans, wheat, and catfish.

Calvin and his wife Janette, both alumni, have remained active at the school and helped raise fund for numerous projects. In 1990 they were instrumental in establishing the Humphreys County Chapter of the MDCC Alumni Association.
