Pat Hare

Patrick "Pat" Hare, Class of 1981

As a basketball star Pat was selected to play in the MJCAA All-Star Game as a sophomore earning MVP Honors. As a tennis player he was the Men’s B Singles Champ in the Co-Lin Invitational Tournament in both 1980 and 1981. He also helped the Trojans capture the Mississippi Junior College Athletic Association State Championship his freshman year and was given the Outstanding Tennis Award as a sophomore. Hare was also a versatile member of the track team running the 110 high hurdles as well as competing in the high jump and the pole vault. While at MDJC the advertising major was voted Most Handsome and was a member of the MDJC Hall of Fame where requirements note that members “must be outstanding scholars and campus leaders.”

Hare went on to play basketball at Millsaps College in Jackson where he earned Trinity University Classic All-Tournament honors in 1983. He also earned Millsaps’ 110% Award in both 1982 and 1983 and was honored with the Most Valuable Player Award as a senior. Hare earned a B.A. from Millsaps in 1983 and was a member of the Alpha Mu Chapter of Kappa Alpha Order as well as a Sigma Lambda Honorary.

After college Hare worked as a Consumer Lending Officer at Deposit Guaranty Bank in Greenville until 1990. He then moved to Aiken, SC., where he accepted a position with Meadwestvacco, a global packaging solutions company.
