|Russ Davis, Class of 1987
Induction Class of 2013
During his freshman year Davis hit .400 driving in 47 runs with 11 doubles, 5 triples, 4 homeruns, and 33 stolen bases. He received All-State and All-Region honors. His sophomore year Russ hit .440, including 14 homeruns, 65 RBI’s 17 doubles, and 3 triples. He helped the Trojans win the Region XXIII title that year. During his sophomore year he was named to the all-state and all-region teams, and named an all American by the NJCAA. In 1987, Davis was named as the Mississippi Junior College Player of the Year by the Clarion Ledger.
Davis finished his career at Delta State University under Coach Boo Ferris. He was apart of the Gulf South Conference Championship team and advanced to the college world series.
Davis earned a Master’s Degree in Mortuary Science from Worsham College in Chicago.
Russ is a licensed funeral director, embalmer, and is a fourteen year veteran of the Naperville, IL police force as a certified juvenile officer, traffic reconstructionist, and hostage negotiator.
