|Samuel “Sandy” Vincent, Class of 1951

During Vincent’s first year he moved to fullback as a freshman and as a sophomore was selected Captain and named an Honorable Mention All-American. “Sandy” was elected President of the freshman class at SJC and was secretary-treasure of the Student Council. Vincent’s education at SJC was cut short when his National Guard unit was activated in January of 1951.
Samuel Vincent served in Korea in 1953 and returned to Ft. Bragg, N.C. where he earned a degree from the University of Omaha. He then attended the Army Command & General Staff College at Ft. Leavenworth, K.S., and then Helicopter school before being sent on a tour of duty in Vietnam.
Vincent went on to the United States Military Academy at West Point a Deputy of Military Instruction. He was then sent to Saudi Arabia as an Army Advisor. It was there that he was promoted to Colonel in 1972.
Samuel retired in 1978 as the Advisor to the 2nd Maneuver Training Command.
