|Tommy McGehee, Class of 1964

During his first season at Mississippi Delta McGehee and the Trojans were 8-5-1 and won the State Championship. In 1964, Tommy, who started every game and was Team Captain both years, lead the Trojans to their second consecutive State Championship. That years teams were 10-3. During the State Championship Game Tommy “Stride” McGehee led the Trojans in hitting, going three-for-four at the plate.
Tommy McGehee married the former Marian McClellan of Moorhead, MS in 1968 and had a 40year career with towboat industry in Greenville. The machinist worked first with Mainstream Shipyards before moving to Greenville Shipbuilding, now Mainstream Marine.
McGehee played and managed seven State Championship fast-pitch softball teams including one Southwest Regional Championship team. In 1984 he was named Coach of the Year for leading his Greenville Phillies to the Connie Mack State Championship.
