The Mississippi Delta Community College Trojans' recent string of wins over ranked teams has earned them national recognition and a No. 10 ranking in this week’s NJCAA Division II national polls.
The Trojans are 16-8 overall and 7-1 in North Division play after last Saturday’s sweep of north foe Itawamba Community College in Fulton. Earlier the Trojans split a pair of games with north foe East Mississippi Community College, losing 4-2 and winning 5-4. The Lions were ranked sixth in the nation at the time. They then swept the 13th ranked Northwest Community College Rangers, 8-7 and 11-2.
This week’s rankings have South Division leader Jones Junior College ranked No.1 in the nation with a 24-2 record. East Mississippi Community College has moved up to fifth nationally with an 18-6 record. The Trojans are the only other team from Mississippi in the top 10.
The Trojans will be at home Wednesday as they face North Division foe Northeast Mississippi Community College with game one beginning at 1 p.m.
