Mississippi Delta Community College alumni and school officials recently demonstrated their Mississippi hospitality at the 6th annual Mississippi Picnic in the Park at Chastain Park in Atlanta.
“The event was well attended and it afforded us a great opportunity to reconnect with our alumni now living in the Georgia area. It was a fun mini-reunion of sorts,” says Debbie Gantz, MDCC alumni director. “Atlanta’s Mississippi in the Park event also allowed us to tell Georgians about Mississippi Delta Community College and all of the opportunities afforded by our college.”
MDCC was Mississippi’s only community college to attend this year’s event, according to Gantz.
The Mississippi Society of Georgia coordinated the 2014 event, which featured a celebrity and alumni golf tournament, a night out at the Atlanta Braves game, and a picnic in the park complete with a catfish dinner and McAlister’s sweet tea. The sixth annual event also featured information booths for Mississippi Delta Community College and other Mississippi institutions of higher learning, as well as entertainment and Mississippi cuisine.
Mississippi Delta Community College is fully accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, and has a statewide articulation agreement guaranteeing the transfer of academic courses to all public institutions of higher learning in the state of Mississippi.
