FAQs for the GHEC Library

Is the library opened on week-ends? No. The library is closed on Fridays, weekends, school holidays, and during semester breaks.
Is there an area for group study? Yes.  Group study is allowed in designated areas.   See a librarian for information.
What is the cost of copying materials and printing from the computer? A coin-operated copier is located in the work area.  Students may complete their own copying for 10 cents a page. Nickels, dimes, quarters, and dollar bills are accepted in the machine. The Library does not charge to print academic material from the computer for 20 pages or less.  However, printing should be limited and users will be charged for excessive printing.
May a student use a wireless laptop in the library? No.  The library is not wired for wireless computer use.
Who may use the library?  GHEC students who use the library must be registered and taking credit classes at Mississippi Delta, Delta State or Mississippi Valley.  All local High School/Junior High School students under the age of 18 years must be accompanied by a parent or their instructor.  Any one from the community over eighteen must show a form of picture ID.  Children under the age of sixth grade are not permitted in the library.  All users must sign in at the appropriate area.
How long may a book be checked out?  Books may be checked out for a period of 14 days.  If not needed by another student, an item may be renewed for another 14 days.
What is the charge for overdue materials?  A fine of ten cents a day per book will be charged for overdue books if paid when the items are returned.  No fines will be charged for days on which the library is closed.
How does a student obtain the password for a database?  If you need a pass word, you should contact a librarian.
Can a student check his personal e-mail in the library? Yes.  There are computers that are designated for personal use.  There is a 30 minute time limit from 8:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m., peak hours of computer use.
