MDCC 2014 Sports Hall of Fame Set

The Mississippi Delta Community College Sports Hall of Fame will be inducting five new members Saturday, April 12th, with a banquet and induction ceremony in the J.T. Hall Coliseum.

This year’s athletes include; Pat Hare (1979-1981) basketball, tennis and track, Reagan Ford (1966-1968) football and baseball, Kevin Rogers (1986-1988) baseball, and Michael DeJean (1988-1990) baseball. The Jimmy Bellipanni Distinguished Trojan recipient will be long-time MDCC Alumni Affairs and Development Director Bethe Williams Becker.

Pat Hare Reagan Ford

Pat Hare, formerly of Greenville, was an All-Star basketball player at MDJC and the MVP in basketball at Millsaps. He was a member of MDJC’s State Championship tennis team. Reagan Ford was an All-State defensive back his freshman and sophomore years at MDJC and was a Junior College All-American.

Kevin Rogers Mike DeJean

Kevin Rogers led MDJC to State and Region XXIII Championships as a pitcher and set the record for most wins in a season (11). He went on to pitch for the San Francisco Giants. Mike DeJean also led Terry Thompson’s Trojans to State and Region XXIII Championships as a pitcher. He was drafted by the New York Yankees and played professionally for the Colorado Rockies, the Milwaukee Brewers, St. Louis Cardinals, Baltimore Orioles and New York Mets.

Bethe Williams Becker

Mrs. Bethe Williams Becker of Greenwood is being inducted as the Jimmy Bellipanni Distinguished Trojans recipient. She is the person most responsible for getting the MDCC Sports Hall Of Fame off the ground in 1999 by taking on the daunting task of organizing that first induction ceremony and banquet.

Tickets for the banquet and induction ceremony are $20 per person ($5 for children 12 and under) and may be ordered by mail from the MDCC Athletic Director, P.O. Box 668, Moorhead, MS 38761.
