Congratulations to the recently inducted 2017-2018 Phi Theta Kappa, Zeta Zeta Chapter officers! They are (l to r) La'Darion Howard, president; Heather Lee, vice president; Peyton Chambers, treasurer; Kaitlyn Morris, recording secretary; and Katessa Gary, public relations secretary. 

Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) is the international honor society of two-year colleges. The Zeta Zeta Chapter is located on the MDCC Moorhead campus. The mission of Phi Theta Kappa is to recognize academic achievement of college students and to provide opportunities for them to grow as scholars and leaders.

Phi Theta Kappa inducts new members

The Zeta Zeta Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa on the Moorhead Campus of Mississippi Delta Community College recently held their induction ceremony on March 6 in the Yeates Fine Arts Building. Over 70 students were inducted.

The Zeta Zeta Chapter of PTK was chartered on the Sunflower Junior College campus is 1947. Since that time PTK has been an integral part of campus life, encouraging academic excellence.

The purpose of Phi Theta Kappa is to recognize and encourage scholarship among two-year college students. To achieve this purpose, Phi Theta Kappa provides opportunity for the development of leadership and service, for an intellectual climate for exchange of ideas and ideals, for lively fellowship for scholars, and for stimulation of interest in continuing academic excellence.

Members of Phi Theta Kappa have opportunities to receive some of more than $37 million in scholarships provided exclusively for Phi Theta Kappa members. Members in the United States are also eligible to participate in the All-USA Academic Team program, co-sponsored by USA Today, and by extension their own statewide academic teams. Members also receive automatic nominations to the National Dean's List and job postings exclusively for Phi Theta Kappans.
