Trojans Split With Co-Lin CC

The Mississippi Delta Community College Trojans baseball team faced the defending State Champions Friday at Ellisville and came away with two losses, 14-4 and 4-1.

In game one the Bobcats scored their 14 runs on 13 hits with three errors and five men left on base. They scored five runs in the first, three in the second, one each in the fourth and fifth and four in the sixth inning. The Trojans four runs came off five hits with two errors. They left six runners stranded. Delta scored two runs in the first and two in the second.

Ty Dean led the Trojans at the plate with two hits and an RBI. DeShawn Lindsay also had two hits while Austin Burdine had one. Chandler Massengale was the losing pitcher going one inning and giving up seven runs on four hits and walking three batters. Caleb Brown pitched 3.1 innings in relief and Kenny Hilton went one inning.

In game two the Trojans scored one run (in the top of the seventh) on seven hits with four errors and eight runners left on base while the Bobcats scored four runs on seven hits with two errors and eight men left on base.

Tays Hardy had two hits in the game while Ty Dean had one and an RBI. Jordan Lambert, Matt Ray, Michael Beloso, and Ayreon Davis also had one hit each. Matt Ray took the loss on the mound going 1.2 innings and giving up three runs on five hits with two strikeouts and two walks. Relievers included Skylar Lawson, Austin Burdine, Lee Quates, and Tyler Dowdy.

The losses leave the Trojans with a 5-4 overall record. MDCC’s next games are scheduled for Tuesday at Livingston, AL. where they will play a doubleheader against the University of West Alabama (JV). First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
