Trojans Fall To Lions in State Tournament Playoff Series

The Mississippi Delta Community College Trojans baseball team ended their run in the state playoff series Saturday with a 4-0 loss to East Mississippi Community College Saturday afternoon in Scooba. The loss follows Friday’s 10-1 series opening loss to the Lions.

East Mississippi started the bottom of the seventh with a walk followed by a ground out and a flyout before the Lions’ home run leader David Pimentel stepped to the plate and lofted a shot high over the left field wall to make it a 3-0 game. EMCC added an insurance run in the eighth but it wasn’t needed as their pitchers held the Trojans in check all day.

East Mississippi scored four runs on seven hits with one error and left 11 runners stranded. The Trojans had four hits with no errors and left five runners on the base paths. Ty Dean, Jordan Lambert, Tays Hardy and DaShawn Lindsey all had a hit apiece for Mississippi Delta.
