The Mississippi Delta Community College baseball team would like to invite you to its 5th Annual Grand Slam Dinner on Saturday, Feb. 6th at 6:30 p.m. in the Herman Thigpen Cafeteria on the Moorhead Campus. The guest speaker is former Hinds Community College head baseball coach Rick Clarke.

The dinner provides alumni, fans, family and friends a chance to meet the 2016 Trojans baseball team and coaches before the season opener at Copiah-Lincoln Community College on Feb. 9th. Tickets for the event are $25 for adults and $10 for children ages 12 and under.

Clarke is a Forest Hill High School graduate who was the head baseball coach at Magnolia Academy from 1976-82 before becoming the head baseball coach at Hinds CC in Raymond.

During his 22 seasons there, Clarke recorded 565 wins, four MACJC South Division Championships, two MACJC State Championships, four NJCAA Region 23 Championships, four NJCAA District Championships and four NJCAA World Series (1989, 1994, 1995, 1999). Clarke’s 1989 squad is the only MACJC team to ever win a division, state, regional, and district championship and play in the JUCO World Series in Grand Junction, Colo. in the same season.

As of 2005, Clarke’s 22 seasons as head baseball coach marked the longest tenure of any head coach at Hinds and also the longest tenure of any Mississippi community college head baseball coach at that time. He was inducted into the Hinds Community College Sports Hall of Fame on September 26, 2010.
