MOORHEAD – JoAnn Tisdale, a nine-year veteran with Mississippi Delta Community College, was recently named Northern Region Teacher of the Year for 2015-16 at the ABE State Summer Conference in Vicksburg.
Tisdale is the lead instructor and mentor for Adult Basic Education (ABE) at MDCC. She teaches in all areas of ABE and team-teaches classes such as business mechanics, business communications and business accounting. She also mentors instructors who teach adult education classes at other MDCC locations.

“I celebrate any success that a student achieves,” says Tisdale. “But when a student passes their last part of their High School Equivalency, I feel like I’ve won the lottery. I love being a part of the student’s journey from the very beginning to whatever pathway they choose.”

Tisdale was also elected as the 2015 Mississippi Association for Adult and Community Education (MAACE) President.

She and her husband Lynn have two sons, Logan and Josh, and live in Isola.

MOORHEAD – Thirteen students received their General Educational Development (GED) diploma at a ceremony held Thursday, May 12 in the Yeates Fine Arts Auditorium on the Moorhead campus of Mississippi Delta Community College.

MDCC offers GED courses on its campuses in Moorhead, Indianola, Greenwood, and Greenville. Additional courses are also offered off-campus in Cleveland. Adult Basic Education / GED courses are offered free of charge.
