$5,000 scholarship exclusively for MDCC students transferring to Mississippi State University

Students transferring to Mississippi State University after graduating from MDCC may be eligible for the Will D. Carpenter Scholarship. Students should submit the attached application no later than March 1, 2016.

ABOUT THE WILL D. CARPENTER ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP IN AGRICULTURE AND LIFE SCIENCES — This scholarship was established at MSU in honor of the members of the Carpenter family by Dr. Will D. Carpenter, a Moorhead native who is a retired vice-president and general manager of new products at the Monsanto Company and now living in Chesterfield, Missouri. The amount of the award will vary according to the interest earned on the endowment; however, the award will probably range from $4000 to $5000 per year.

Candidates must meet the following criteria:
1. Be a full-time student at MSU who has transferred from MDCC.
2. First priority given to a student majoring in one of the agriculture or life science areas of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
3. Be an upper division student who has earned at least 48 hours toward his/her degree.
4. Have demonstrated academic achievement, such as a 3.0 GPA, while attending MDCC.
5. Be of good moral character and have demonstrated leadership ability and financial need.
