Mississippi Delta Community College President Dr. Larry Nabors is pleased to announce that Jim Aycock has been selected as the new director of the college’s computer services department. Aycock of Inverness, Miss., will assume his new duties in January of 2015 following the retirement of current director Jimmy Free.

“As a proud graduate of MDCC, I’m fortunate and thankful for this opportunity,” Aycock says. “I’ve worked the last seven years in MDCC’s computer services department, having been promoted to my previous position of network administrator in 2009. The knowledge I’ve gained during this time, as well as the college-wide relationships I’ve built, has prepared me for this leadership position. I am motivated and enthusiastic for the opportunity to implement new technology products that will enhance all aspects of the college. I recognize the importance of a campus-wide technology plan to enhance learning, assessment, teaching, infrastructure, and productivity.”

In addition to his experience at MDCC, Aycock previously worked in the field of computer services in the healthcare and food production industries. He is currently working towards his bachelor’s degree at Mississippi Valley State University.

Aycock is a board member and the social media chair of the MDCC Alumni Association, is a member of the MDCC Development Foundation Scholarship Committee, is a member of the Mississippi Community College Board’s Technical Operations Council, and is a member of the Mississippi Mobilization Task Force.
