MOORHEAD – During its annual Nursing Excellence Scholarship Banquet on April 14, the Mississippi Delta Community College Associate Degree Nursing Department raised over $5,000 in scholarship money.

Current students sold raffle tickets for a chance to win an Apple Watch to raise scholarship money to help future nursing students afford to attend the program. Around 150 people attended the banquet to honor the students’ achievements and listen to MDCC nursing program alumni Dr. Shelby Polk and Brian Hill speak to the students about the workforce, their futures and the knowledge gained while in the nursing program.

Four students were also inducted into the Alpha Delta Nu Nursing Honor Society. Those students were Courtney Aldridge, Vicki Mason, Christy Salley and Josefa Shields. To be inducted, students must maintain a cumulative 3.0 GPA and earn a grade of B or better in all nursing courses in the third semester of study during the second year of the core nursing curriculum and demonstrate conduct on campus and in the clinical areas that reflect integrity and professionalism. Those applying for honor society membership were also required to complete a capstone project.
