Co-Lin forfeits, MDCC improves to 1-1

MOORHEAD - Mississippi Delta was informed Wednesday that it will receive the win from the Copiah-Lincoln Community College game played on Sept. 1 due to Co-Lin playing with an ineligible player.

The forfeit was the sanction handed down by the National Junior College Athletic Association. Co-Lin self-reported the error with its player and MDCC was notified by the NJCAA about the issue and the ruling.

The forfeit gives the No. 3 ranked Wolves (1-1) its first lost on the season and gives MDCC (1-1) its first win.

The Trojans travel to Goodman Thursday night to compete against Holmes Community College (2-0) in its first division game of the season.

Freshman quarterback Austin Guy leads the team in passing yards with 75 going 9 for 34 in the first two games. Malcolm Shirley leads the team in rushing yards with 37 on 16 carries.

On defense, look for a host of Trojans to be in on tackles with DaMonta Kidd and Bennie Higgins leading the way.
