Each year the Mississippi Delta Community College Alumni Association recognizes a faculty or staff member at Homecoming for his or her distinguished service to the college. The 2017 recipient of the Mississippi Community College Trojan Spirit Award is Vicki Tabb.

Vicki graduated from MDCC with an Associate of Arts degree. While at MDCC she was a member of the Spectator Society and Phi Theta Kappa. She received her Bachelor of Science degree and Master of Education degree from Delta State University.

Tabb is a third generation Trojan instructor: her grandmother, Nell Stonestreet, was an English instructor, and her grandfather, J.D. Stonestreet, taught mathematics and coached football. Each year the J.D. Stonestreet Award is given to the most outstanding male athlete, and the J.D. Stonestreet dorm is named in his honor. Vicki’s mother, Millie Clark, was the first instructor in the Medical Laboratory Technology Program and her father, Bob Clark, taught in the Automotive Machine Technology Program. Vicki has taught mathematics classes at MDCC for seventeen years.

On campus Vicki is known for her positive attitude, innovative teaching methods and dedication to academic excellence. Her commitment to her students extends beyond the classroom. She is often seen supporting her students at extra-curricular events and activities. Vicki is an advocate of the following quote by Henry Ford, “Whether you think you can, or you think you can't--you're right.” She serves as the Math Coordinator for the Math/Science Division and is a member of the Curriculum Committee, Alumni Association, and Faculty Association. In addition, she volunteers her artistic talent to decorate the bulletin boards in the Harper Science Building.

Vicki is a member of the Moorhead Baptist Church where she teaches Sunday School. She and her husband, Robert are the parents of Amanda and Dalton. Amanda, a graduate of MDCC, attends Delta State University and Dalton currently attends MDCC.
