Steinriede Fund recipients announced

MOORHEAD - A grant from the Robert W. Steinriede Faculty and Staff Development Fund at Mississippi Delta Community College is helping three MDCC employees better their teaching and personal career skills this year.

This year’s recipients are Kristy Bariola, Valarie Morgan and Emily Riser. Bariola, director of library services, was awarded funding to attend the American Library Association Annual Conference in New Orleans, La. The funding paid for registration fees, meals and lodging for herself and MDCC’s Resource Librarian Audrey Beach.

Morgan, an English instructor, received three new iPads and three new Apple TVs for the College Prep Division on the Moorhead campus to improve student learning by upgrading technology.

Riser, English division chair, received an Apple MacBook Air to aid in her face-to-face and online teaching. She intends to use it with the Apple TV in her classroom to enhance the videos and slideshows for students.

Developed in 2013, the first-ever funded faculty and staff development fund was created through the MDCC Development Foundation, Inc. The program provides MDCC’s faculty and staff with the opportunity to develop projects that support the educational mission of MDCC.
