Campus abuzz during Career Fair

MOORHEAD – Mississippi Delta’s campus was buzzing April 16 with hundreds of students who attended its Career Fair.

The Career Fair was held in the Stanny Sanders Library on the Moorhead campus and displayed booths and information from 15 outside exhibitors ranging from industry to healthcare to the service sector and area universities. MDCC had over 20 Career-Technical exhibitors on hand along with 10 Health Science programs.

“The goals of the Career Fair were to encourage students’ career identity development by connecting their academic courses to workplace skills,” said MDCC Counselor Kate Failing.

“This was also a great chance for students to interact with future employers.”

In the past, MDCC has held several career fairs and opportunities for outside industries to display their employment opportunities to recruit students, but Failing said Dr. Edward Rice III, vice president of student services, decided it was time to bring that back and spearheaded the event.

Students who participated were entered to win door prizes throughout the day. Sophia Roark was the Grand Prize Drawing with a “Dress for Success” clothing consultation and interview outfit from Abraham’s in Indianola.
