Clois Hill, Energi Insurance Services’ regional safety manager for the southern region, instructs commercial truck driver Reggie Daves with Scott Petroleum.

Advanced safety training for 150 of Scott Petroleum’s commercial truck drivers was recently held at MDCC’s Capps Center.

The course, taught by Scott Petroleum and Energi Insurance Services’ personnel, included both classroom training and hands-on training utilizing Energi’s Mobile Training Center. The mobile training center is a computer-based driving simulator generating real-life graphics and three high definition screens offering both forward and side window views for the trainee. The program includes realistic driving scenarios that could be encountered by delivery trucks ranging in size from three-quarter-ton flat beds to tractor-trailer rigs to fuel haulers.

Each driver undergoing the safety training was put through the simulator with the corresponding truck he or she drives daily. City and country driving conditions also were included in the programming with various driving situations specifically tailored for those driving a loaded rig.

John Conrad, MDCC's Capps Center training project coordinator, says, "Energi provides insurance solutions for various segments of the energy industry. They provided their mobile training simulator to improve safety training for clients of Energi Insurance Services."
