Woodard Honored at Ceremony

Mississippi Delta Community College art instructor Jennifer Woodard of Rolling Fork, Miss., was recently recognized as MDCC’s 2014 Humanities Teacher of the Year.

During the Nov. 5 awards ceremony on the Moorhead, Miss., campus, Woodard presented, “An Introduction to Raku Pottery.” She will also be honored at the Mississippi Humanities Council Awards Banquet in Jackson in February of 2015.

A MDCC employee since 2001, Woodard earned her bachelor’s degree from Delta State University and her master’s degree from Mississippi College. She and her husband, Allen, have three children, Roselea, Jilly, and Walt.

October is Arts and Humanities Month, proclaimed annually by the President and Governor. To honor the event, the President or appropriate dean of each institution of higher learning in the state nominates a faculty member for the Humanities Teacher Award.
