Practical Nursing Graduates

Mississippi Delta Community College held its Practical Nursing and Medical Laboratory Technology Pinning and Graduation Ceremony on Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. on the Moorhead Campus. Twenty-six individuals completed the Practical Nursing Program. The MDCC Practical Nursing Program is a three semester program that prepares graduates with the knowledge and skills needed to meet the expanding health care needs of the community. This program utilizes classroom, laboratory, and clinical instruction to prepare individuals to provide entry level nursing care. Graduates of the program receive a certificate and are eligible to write the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses (NCLEX-PN®). The graduates are below grouped by county.

Medical Laboratory Technology Graduates

Mississippi Delta Community College held its Practical Nursing and Medical Laboratory Technology Pinning and Graduation Ceremony on Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. on the Moorhead Campus. Nine individuals completed the Medical Laboratory Technology Program. The Medical Laboratory Technology curriculum is a two-year Associate of Applied Science degree program of study that prepares individuals to work in a medical laboratory. This program is designed to meet the standards and requirements for careers in clinical laboratory science. Upon successful completion of the technical program, students are eligible to take a national certification examination. The graduates are below grouped by county.

Venton Named Staff Member of the Month

Pamela J. Venton of Greenville was selected by her co-workers as Mississippi Delta Community College’s Staff Member of the Month for July. Venton, a college employee for 18 years, currently serves MDCC as a counselor at the College’s Greenville Higher Education Center. She also serves as a staff advisor to the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society. “The most enjoyable part of my job at MDCC is the daily interaction with students,” says Venton.

The MDCC Alumni & Foundation, Inc. sponsors the Staff Employee of the Month Award. The staff appreciation committee is comprised of staff members representing various areas of the college. This committee randomly selects a department each month, and the employees working in that department select the award recipient. Trojan Football Countdown

Mississippi Delta Community College had 13 student-athletes receive All-State Academic Honors for the 2014-15 school year by the MACJC. Students must maintain a 3.00 or better GPA to be eligible for this honor.

The Trojans’ baseball team had the most athletes awarded with six players receiving the honor. They include Michael Beloso (Pearl River, LA), Peyton Callahan (Houston, MS), Tyler Dowdy (New Albany), Tays Hardy (Batesville), Chandler Massengale (Hattiesburg), and Kyle Wilson (Houston, MS).

The Trojans’ football team had three honorees including Joshua Cooper (Yazoo City), Alex Johnson (Greenwood) and Demerrius Williams (Shaw). Women’s basketball and softball had two athletes each. Basketball players were Niya Head (Tchula) and Mary Washington (Charleston) and softball players were Amber Adams (Oxford) and Saragrace Gunter (Pensacola, FL).

Over 45 recruits came to Mississippi Delta Community College’s Moorhead Campus on April 22 to audition for a spot on the 2015-16 MDCC Delta Dancers. The Delta Dancers represent MDCC throughout the year at campus, athletic, and community events. Dancers receive a full scholarship to MDCC covering tuition, room, and meals. Radiologic Technology Graduates

Mississippi Delta Community College held its Health Sciences Pinning and Graduation Ceremony on Thursday, May 7, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. in the J. T. Hall Coliseum on the Moorhead Campus. Ten individuals completed the Radiologic Technology Program. The Radiologic Technology Program provides a general education and clinical training program that prepares students for a career in radiography. The technical program combines theory through traditional classroom instruction and laboratory experience on campus, and clinical experiences in affiliating hospitals to provide opportunities for students to develop skills needed to enter the Radiology profession. The Radiologic Technology Program commences in August of each year and runs for 22 consecutive months with a projected graduation date in May. The graduates are below grouped by county.

Dental Hygiene Technology Graduates

Mississippi Delta Community College held its Health Sciences Pinning and Graduation Ceremony on Thursday, May 7, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. in the J. T. Hall Coliseum on the Moorhead Campus. Six individuals completed the Dental Hygiene Technology Program. Students in MDCC’s dental hygiene program prepare for careers as preventive dental professionals who have a choice of working in a variety of settings. Graduates obtain jobs in school systems, nursing homes, and dental supply firms, as well as private dental offices. Fully accredited by the American Dental Association‘s Commission on Dental Accreditation, this 83 credit hour program has twelve prerequisite courses, and requires four semesters of full-time study. The graduates are below grouped by county.
