Lady Trojans fall in opening division play

MOORHEAD – The Lady Trojans (1-9,0-1) fall to Holmes Community College Thursday night by a score of 63-41 in opening division play at J.T. Hall Coliseum.

For Head Coach Burnadette McDonald, that makes the second loss in a row for her young team.

McDonald’s starting five consisted of sophomore veterans Ariana Sims, Cora Cooley, O’Nesha Hunt, Alexis Caldwell and freshman Alexis Augustus.

The Lady Bulldogs started the game with the ball after the tipoff went out of bound on the Lady Trojans.

Holmes would inbound the ball and score. They carried and widened the lead for the rest of the game. Freshmen Vaquela Pimpton and Nhamia Wilson lead the team in scoring with 10 and 13 points respectfully.

For the Lady Trojans, August lead the team in scoring with 13 points shooting 6 of 14 from the field and 1 of 4 from the stripe. Caldwell ranked second in scoring with eight making 2 of 9 from the field and 50 percent from the stripe.

The team travels to Fulton Tuesday, Jan. 17 to take on the Indians of Itawamba Community College. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.
