Automotive Service Excellence Exam and Certification

Scheduled the First and Third Tuesday of each Month by Appointment

Automotive Service Excellence: Opportunity through Performance.  Auto mechanics and technicians become infinitely more hire-able if they are certified through the National Institute of Automotive Service Excellence or ASE.  This is an industry-recognized certification to demonstrate to employers that this person has been trained in the field and has passed the ASE exam.  Contact Mary Ellen Buchanan at 662-887-2876 x12 or mbuchanan@msdelta.edu.

Career Readiness Certificate (CRC)

Want to show employers that you have basic workplace skills required for 21st century jobs?  This credential will show employers you will be easy to train to meet job performance standards!  You should consider taking the Career Readiness Certificate assessment offered the first Thursday of each month at the Capps Center, Indianola, by appointment, or week days at your local WIN Job Center by appointment.

Electrical Utility Lineman Training

Fall 2016

Qualified workers in this field are in demand.  This 16-week intense, hands-on training is taught by instructors with lineman experience and specialized education.  This course will introduce you to the skills and knowledge that is necessary to begin your career in the Electrical Utility Lineman Industry.  At the completion of this course you will be job ready to offer your skills to an electrical utility or electrical utility construction company.  Click here to view an informative video on our training program.

Manufacturing Skills Basic

August 22, 2016                                             Greenville Higher Education Center

The Manufacturing Skills Basic Certification begins with core training courses designed to provide each student with the fundamental skills required to enter the manufacturing environment.  A silver level Career Readiness Certificate (CRC) is a prerequisite to enroll in the program.  Local companies will interview participants who successfully complete training.  Cost:  $50  Deadline:  August 8, 2016

The core training courses include:

  • Workplace Ethics and Employer Expectations
  • OSHA 10-Hour Safety
  • Computer Literacy
  • Blueprint Reading and Precision Measurement
  • Industrial Math
  • High Performance Manufacturing
  • Forklift Operation
  • First Aid/CPR

Advanced level training includes electrical and mechanical courses utilizing Amatrol eLearning and equipment.  Individuals can enter in advanced level training at the request of an employer.

Medical Billing and Insurance

August 15, 2016 - December 7, 2016

This class will introduce students to health insurance and reimbursement.  In this course the student will become familiar with common medical billing reimbursement methods.  The student will learn principles of medical billing related to proper claim for preparation, submission, and payment processing, and the follow up process.   Completion in Medical Billing and Insurance results in Certification with AAPC.

Medical Office Assistant

Spring 2017

Doctors and patients alike rely upon medical office assistants to bring order to the complex world of medicine.  As a medical office assistant (MOA), you are the first point of contact between patient and office, and as such, set the tone for the patient's experience.  In addition to guiding patients, MOAs also work behind the scenes to coordinate referrals, lab test reviews, chart updates, insurance reimbursements and other functions that keep a medical office running smoothly.   A Career Readiness Certificate (CRC) is a prerequisite into the program.

Medical Terminology and Anatomy/Physiology

This course introduces the student to the medical terminology used in the medical coding and reimbursement profession and covers medical terminology from a coder's prospective.  This course would be valuable for anyone preparing for a career in any non-clinical medical profession.  This class is not for college credit.  Cost:  $200

Pharmacy Technician

Pharmacy Technicians assist pharmacist in dispensing medications to customer or health professions.  This class will prepare students to become a certified pharmacy technician.  Cost:  $300  Payment Deadline:  August 18, 2016

Welding


 Fall 2016                                                            

Learn about basic MIG, TIG, FCAW, and SMAW welding and safe work practices used at local industries.  A negative drug screen and Career Readiness Certificate (CRC) of Bronze or higher are required.  Cost:  $150 (includes welding tool kit ti keep at the end of training).
