Robert “Brock” McMurray, Class of 1987

McMurray was named team captain both of his years at MDJC. He received All-State and All-Region honors as a freshman. He batted .363 with 4 homeruns and 19 stolen bases. His batting averaged increased to .386 during his sophomore year with 9 homeruns and 24 stolen bases. In 1987 he helped the Trojans win the Region XVIII title.

McMurray continued his college career at Southeaster Louisiana University where he was named player of the year after hitting .359 with 8 homeruns and 11 stolen bases. He was also named to the All-State Team.

McMurray was drafted in the 11th round by the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Brock served as Dean of Students at MDCC from 1998-2001 and was President of the Mississippi Chief Student Services Officers before moving on to become Vice-President of Student Services at Taft College in Taft, California.
