Paul Aust, Class of 1939

Paul Aust was an outstanding football player in college who went on to become a coach and a career educator in Mississippi and Florida. During his freshman year at SJC, Aust, earned Second Team All-State honors as a defensive guard. The next year Aust was named First Team All-State helping the Trojans to an 8-2 season. That year Aust made history as a member of the first Trojan Football squad to undergo spring practice.

Paul Aust continued his football career at Delta State Teacher’s College where he earned All-State honors at the defensive guard position and was named to the “M” Club. For several years Aust embarked in the educational field including coaching, teaching, and administration. In 1950 he earned his Master of Arts Degree with a major in School Administration from the University of Mississippi.

In 1957 Paul moved to Florida and continued his career in education until 1984 when he retired from the Pinellas County School System after serving 42 years as an educator. In 1985 the local chapter of the Sertoma Club awarded Aust their Service to Mankind Award.
