Billy Carollo

Billy Carollo, Class of 1953

Induction Class of 2004

During his playing time at SJC, Carollo, who played at one of the linebacker slots as well as running back, never missed a game. During his freshman year, he was selected as the “Outstanding Back” and received Honorable Mention All-State honors. In 1952 Billy was selected Team Captain by his teammates and was inducted in the “S” Club,

The Korean War interrupted Billy’s college career and Carollo spent the next two years with the U.S. Army Signal Corps attached to the 37th Combat Engineers serving in Germany. While there he played two years with the U.S. Army Pioneers Football Team and was selected as a member of the All-Europe First Team.

Following his military service, he returned to Leland and sold life insurance for four years and was selected as the top agent in the state. In 1959 he went to work for the U.S. Postal Service where he worked for over 45 years.
