Lady Trojans fall to Co-Lin in hoops action

Mississippi Delta’s Lady Trojans (0-6) started strong against the Lady Wolves of Copiah-Lincoln Community College Monday night at J.T. Hall Coliseum outscoring them in the first quarter, but could not hold on in the end falling 68-48 on the hardwood.

MDCC forced Co-Lin’s hand in the first half causing them to turn the ball over 15 times, which combined with the Lady Trojan’s shooting only 25 percent (6-for-24) from the floor kept the game tight.

Co-Lin had a surge late in the second period to take a 31-27 lead into the locker room at the break. At the half, freshman guard Netanya Wilkerson led MDCC in scoring with nine points.

The ballgame was all Co-Lin in the second half as they outscored the Lady Trojans 37-21. On the night, MDCC shot 72 percent from the stripe (18-for-25) and 22 percent beyond the arc (2-for-9).

Monday’s game against Co-Lin was the Lady Trojans last home game before the Christmas break. The team will travel to Summit Thursday to play Southwest Mississippi Community College.
