Football

James was a running back, fullback and third baseman while at Mississippi Delta Junior College. During Strait’s freshman year he was fullback and helped the Trojans to a 7-3 record. He moved to running back his sophomore year and received MVP accolades and was votes Most Athletic by the Retrospect yearbook. He was also selected to play in the state Juco All-Star Game.

He continued his education at Delta State University and then joined the Army where he was attached to the 82nd Airborne as an engineer for three years.

James Strait has been the Justice Court Judge for District Two in Bolivar County for over 24 years and the City Judge for the towns of Rosedale, Shelby, Merigold, and Benoit. He is a past President of the Mississippi Justice Court Association and a past Executive Director of the Justice Court Association.
