Student-Athletes Sweep MDCC 2026 Student Hall of Fame Honors
MOORHEAD, Miss. (April 21, 2026) — Mississippi Delta Community College is proud to announce the 2026 Student Hall of Fame class, recognizing five outstanding sophomores who exemplify academic excellence, leadership, service, and campus involvement. Notably, every student selected for this year’s honor is a student-athlete, highlighting the strong connection between athletic participation and overall student success at MDCC.
The Student Hall of Fame is one of the college’s highest student honors. To be eligible, students must be sophomores with a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher and must have attended MDCC for at least three consecutive semesters. In addition, recipients must demonstrate service and meaningful contributions to the college while exhibiting leadership, loyalty, character, exemplary citizenship, and the potential for community leadership.
Members of the 2026 Student Hall of Fame class include:
Carson Allen, of Cleveland, Mississippi, is a Pre-Health Professions major on the Moorhead campus.
He is a member of the MDCC baseball team, Phi Theta Kappa, Fellowship of Christian
Athletes, and Baptist Student Union. Following graduation, Allen plans to attend Mississippi
State University to study kinesiology before entering physical therapy school.
Allie Johnson, of Morton, Mississippi, is a Pre-Allied Health major on the Moorhead campus. She
is a member of the MDCC softball team and Phi Theta Kappa. Johnson plans to enter
MDCC’s Associate Degree Nursing program after graduation.
Ella McCain, of Benton, Mississippi, is a Pre-Health Professions major on the Moorhead campus.
She is a member of the MDCC softball team and Phi Theta Kappa. After graduation, McCain
plans to attend Mississippi University for Women to complete her prerequisites before
entering physical therapy school.
James Avery Rodgers, of Olive Branch, Mississippi, is a Pre-Engineering major on the Moorhead campus.
He is a member of the MDCC baseball team, Honors College, Phi Theta Kappa, and Baptist
Student Union. Rodgers plans to attend Blue Mountain Christian University, where he
will continue his academic studies and play baseball.
X’Zaylah Yarbor, of Indianola, Mississippi, is a Biological Sciences major on the Moorhead campus.
She previously competed on the MDCC women’s basketball team and is a member of Phi
Theta Kappa. After graduation, Yarbor plans to enter MDCC’s radiologic technology
program.
The selection of an all student-athlete class underscores MDCC’s commitment to developing well-rounded students who succeed in every aspect of college life. Through their achievements, these honorees reflect the college’s mission of preparing students for continued education, meaningful careers, and impactful lives of service.
