Adult Education Graduates Thirty-Six
MOORHEAD, MS (July 1, 2025) – Mississippi Delta Community College (MDCC) held its
Adult Education (AE) graduation on Thursday, June 26, in the J.T. Hall Coliseum.
This year, 36 adult education students achieved a significant milestone by earning
their high school equivalency diplomas through either the GED or HiSET exams. The
graduation ceremony marked the culmination of their hard work and dedication, with
26 graduates participating in the commencement exercises.
The ceremony began with a welcome from Director of Adult Education Kimberly Youngman,
followed by an invocation from MDCC Baptist Student Union Director Josh Warren. Dean
of Career-Technical and Adult Education Allison Brady delivered opening remarks, expressing
her admiration for the graduates' achievements.
Nikitna Barnes from the Office of Adult Education at the Mississippi Community College
Board then offered her congratulations to the students before speaker Zach Scruggs,
Executive Director of 2nd Chance MS, took to the podium to provide words of encouragement.
Adult Education Instructor Tasmine Moore introduced graduate student speaker Nokia
Peterson, who shared her personal journey and words of inspiration with fellow graduates
and attendees.
The ceremony concluded with the presentation of diplomas by Adult Education Instructor
Alvin Webb and the MDCC Adult Education instructional staff, who proudly conferred
the degrees to the graduates.
The morning's events highlighted the resilience and determination of MDCC's adult
education students, as well as the college's unwavering commitment to supporting learners
at all stages of their educational journey.
