MOORHEAD, MS (August 4, 2025) – Mississippi Delta Community College (MDCC) hosted Atmos Signing Day on Wednesday, July 23, in the Fine Arts Auditorium on the Moorhead campus to recognize three students selected for Atmos Energy’s Operations Internship program. The event celebrated a growing partnership between MDCC and Atmos Energy aimed at providing real-world experience to students in technical programs.
The interns are:
William Floyd of Doddsville, MS
Armarion Williams of Sunflower, MS
Jessie Torres of Leland, MS
The summer internship is designed for students between their first and second years of a Career & Technical Education (CTE) program and offers the opportunity to continue working part-time during the academic year. Participating students are paired with a mentor and work directly alongside Atmos employees to gain hands-on experience in natural gas operations.
Interns assist and observe in a variety of areas including natural gas construction, customer service field activities, damage prevention, leak investigation, and emergency response. Their training includes the use of tools, safety procedures, meter reading, and support in day-to-day operations. The program is designed to expose students to the full scope of Atmos Energy’s operations while developing technical skills and workplace knowledge.
Eligible applicants were drawn from MDCC’s HVAC, electrical, welding, industrial maintenance and construction equipment operation programs. Students first learned about the opportunity in March, when representatives from Atmos visited campus to share details about the program. Interested students completed an online application, and finalists were invited to interview at Atmos’s Cleveland office before three were selected.
“We’re proud to celebrate these students and our growing partnership with Atmos Energy,” said Allison Folk, Dean of Career and Technical Education at MDCC. “Opportunities like this connect classroom learning to real careers and strengthen our region’s workforce.”
