TROJAN Teachers for 2024-25

Moorhead, MS – Aug. 27, 2024 - Mississippi Delta Community College (MDCC) is proud to announce the recipients of the prestigious TROJAN Teacher Awards for the 2024-2025 academic year. This year’s honorees are David Grant, Electrical Instructor; Kathryn Ledbetter, Science Instructor; and Robin Toler, Sociology Instructor. These dedicated educators were recognized for their exceptional contributions to MDCC during the Faculty and Staff Convocation held on Monday, August 12, 2024, in the J.T. Hall Coliseum.

The TROJAN Teacher Award, which stands for Teachers Recognized for Optimism, Job Well Done, Academic Excellence, and Nurturing Students, is an esteemed honor that highlights the excellence and commitment of MDCC instructors. To qualify for the award, instructors must have been full-time faculty members at MDCC for ten or more years, actively attend school functions, and serve on a college committee or as a faculty advisor for student organizations.

David Grant expressed his gratitude upon receiving the award: “I am thankful to be a recipient of this award. I honestly just do what I think is best for the students and for the school. MDCC is the best thing the Delta has going for it! I'm proud to be a part of it.”

Kathryn Ledbetter also shared her appreciation: “I am so honored to be selected for the TROJAN Teacher Award. It is truly a blessing to serve alongside such wonderful people. The Trojan faculty and staff do an amazing job of educating and encouraging our fantastic students, and I'm so glad to be part of this team.”

Robin Toler reflected on her experience at MDCC: “I am honored to be a recipient of the TROJAN Teacher Award. I was hired at MDCC over twenty years ago and have remained here ever since because it is truly a great place to work. The environment and community here have made every year enjoyable. As a college instructor, my greatest reward is seeing students achieve their potential and knowing I played a small part in their journey.”

Interim President, Vice President of Instruction and former TROJAN Teacher award winner, Teresa Webster, had the pleasure of presenting the awards and praised the honorees: “It was a true pleasure to present the TROJAN Teacher awards this year to David Grant, Kathryn Ledbetter, and Robin Toler. Each of these instructors is an expert in their area and brings over 60 years of combined experience to the table. They each embody the spirit of this award, which includes optimism, a job well done, and the nurturing of our students. We thank them for their many years of service and hope they continue with us for many more years!”

The TROJAN Teacher Award will continue to be an annual tradition at MDCC, honoring those who go above and beyond to inspire and educate the next generation of leaders. Congratulations to David Grant, Kathryn Ledbetter, and Robin Toler for their remarkable achievements and dedication to excellence in education.
