President Jackson Selected for Mississippi Humanities Council Board
MOORHEAD, Miss. (Mar. 21, 2024) – MDCC President Dr. Tyrone Jackson was recently elected to serve a four-year term on
the Mississippi Humanities Council (MHC) board. The MHC board is composed of 22 members,
five of whom are appointed by the Governor and the remainder elected by the board.
His first act as a member will be attending the MHC board retreat in Biloxi this summer.
The Mississippi Humanities Council is a private nonprofit corporation funded by Congress
through the National Endowment for the Humanities to provide public programs in traditional liberal arts disciplines to serve
nonprofit groups in Mississippi. The humanities are the study of history, literature,
religion, languages, philosophy, and culture.
