MDCC, Atmos Energy Partnership Connects Students to Internship and Career Opportunities
MOORHEAD, MS (March 24, 2026) — Representatives from Atmos Energy recently visited
Mississippi Delta Community College (MDCC) to speak with students in the Welding,
Construction Equipment Operation, Electrical, HVAC and Industrial Maintenance programs
about career opportunities and the company’s summer internship program.
Glenn Partrick, vice president of human resources, and Rebecca Goolsby, senior human resource generalist, provided an overview of the Atmos Energy Operations Internship, which is designed for students pursuing an Associate of Applied Science degree in a technical field. The program allows students to apply classroom knowledge in a real-world setting while gaining exposure to the natural gas industry.
During the session, students learned about the wide range of hands-on experiences available through the internship, including service operations, construction, damage prevention, measurement, leak investigation and emergency response. Interns work alongside experienced professionals and gain insight into multiple job classifications and daily operations within the company.
Current MDCC HVAC sophomore Armarion Williams also spoke to students about his experience in the program. Williams participated in the internship last summer and continued working with Atmos Energy throughout the academic year. He has since secured full-time employment with the company upon graduation.
Williams shared how the internship helped prepare him for the workforce and noted that Atmos Energy worked with his class schedule during his sophomore year, allowing him to continue gaining hands-on experience while completing his coursework.
“This experience brings career pathways to life for our students,” said Allison Folk, MDCC dean of Career-Technical and Adult Education. “When they hear directly from employers and from a peer like Armarion who has successfully navigated the internship process, it makes those opportunities feel real and achievable. We are proud to partner with Atmos Energy to provide our students with hands-on experiences that lead to long-term career success.”
Partrick emphasized the value of the partnership between Atmos Energy and MDCC.
“Atmos Energy had an outstanding experience connecting with students at Mississippi Delta Community College’s career fair,” Partrick said. “The engagement, curiosity and professionalism we saw reflect the strength of the college’s programs. We value this partnership and look forward to continuing to build a strong pipeline of talent together for the future of our workforce.”
