MDCC Names New Chief of Police
MOORHEAD, Miss. (June 6, 2022) – Markricus “Bo” Hibbler, Sr. was recently announced as the new chief of police at Mississippi Delta Community College (MDCC).
Originally from Indianola, Hibbler graduated from the MDCC Law Enforcement Training Academy in 2003 and began his career as a member of the Greenville Police Department. While there, he excelled through the ranks as patrol sergeant, supervisor of narcotics investigations and lead internal affairs investigator.
Hibbler’s 19-year career has adequately prepared him for his role having also served as chief of police in the Indianola Police Department as well as lieutenant of patrol for the Delta State Police Department.
“We are extremely excited to welcome Chief Hibbler to Mississippi Delta Community College. He has a wealth of knowledge and experience in law enforcement for which I’m confident will prove valuable at the college,” said Vice President Administrative and Student Services Dr. Steven Jones. “We conducted a thorough interview process, and out of several candidates that applied, Chief Hibbler was the chosen candidate by faculty, staff, and students who participated in the process.”
Jones continued, “He understands what community policing looks like in a community college setting, and he has several great ideas to take MDCC's campus police department from good to great. I look forward to fully supporting him along the way."
“The safety of our students, faculty and staff is of the utmost important at Mississippi Delta,” said MDCC President Dr. Tyrone Jackson. “After a rigorous search, I am confident in Chief Hibbler’s ability to lead our police department and continue to keep our campuses safe. We are excited to welcome him to the Trojan family.”
Hibbler, who began his new role on June 1, explained that law enforcement is more than just a job for him.
“For me, policing is not just a job; it is a calling. It requires you to put the needs of others above your own, even outside of the ‘9-5.’ Being a law enforcer is not for everyone because you don't simply learn skills to become a police officer. You have to possess a heart to serve even before the training begins,” said Hibbler.
