MDCC Celebrates Students at Middle College Graduation Ceremony

MOORHEAD, Miss. (May 7, 2026) – Mississippi Delta Community College (MDCC) celebrated the achievements of 129 students during its spring Middle College Graduation Ceremony on Thursday, May 7, at 6 p.m. in the J.T. Hall Coliseum on the Moorhead campus.
The ceremony honored students who successfully earned both their high school diplomas and associate degrees through MDCC’s innovative Middle College program.
Middle College is a partnership between MDCC and area school districts that allows motivated high school juniors and seniors to begin earning college credit while still completing their high school education. Students attend classes on MDCC’s campus, where they benefit from rigorous coursework in a supportive environment that encourages academic growth, confidence and career readiness.
This year’s graduates represented 11 high schools: Amanda Elzy High School, Gentry High School, Greenville-Weston High School, Greenwood High School, Humphreys County High School, Leflore County High School, Leland High School, Norma C. O’Bannon High School, Riverside High School, Simmons High School and Thomas Edwards High School.
Four schools joined the MDCC Middle College program this year: Gentry High School, Greenville-Weston High School, Simmons High School and Thomas Edwards High School.
This year’s graduating class nearly doubled in size compared to last year, reflecting the continued growth of MDCC’s Middle College program and the increasing demand for opportunities that help students accelerate their education and prepare for future success. MDCC welcomes additional school districts interested in partnering to expand access to this pathway for students across the Mississippi Delta.
