MDCC Names Antawine Shelwood Executive Director of Facilities Management

MOORHEAD, Miss. (Aug. 14, 2026) – Mississippi Delta Community College has named Antawine Shelwood its new executive director of facilities management.

Shelwood brings more than 25 years of leadership experience in operations, manufacturing, distribution and facilities management to the position. As executive director, he will provide strategic leadership for facilities management operations throughout the MDCC district and serve as a member of the president’s Executive Leadership Team.

“Antawine Shelwood brings a wealth of experience and a proven record of leadership to this important role,” said MDCC President Dr. Steven Jones. “Throughout his career, he has demonstrated a streamlined, organized approach to managing complex operations, along with a strong belief that clear, consistent communication is the foundation of an effective team. Just as importantly, Antawine shares and supports my vision for the future of our college and the continued advancement of our facilities management operations.”

Shelwood will oversee a wide range of college operations, including facilities planning, construction and renovation projects, maintenance, custodial services, grounds, energy conservation and sustainability, transportation and warehouse services. His responsibilities also include capital project planning, preventative maintenance, regulatory compliance, facilities budgeting and long-range planning.

“Since joining us, Antawine has already hit the ground running, tackling several pressing matters with professionalism, urgency and thoughtful leadership,” Jones said. “His ability to quickly assess priorities and move solutions forward has been evident from day one.

Prior to joining MDCC, Shelwood served as senior director of facilities for a federally funded early childhood education program, where he provided strategic leadership for facilities operations, capital improvements, maintenance, safety, compliance and long-range planning to support high-quality learning environments.

Shelwood earned a Bachelor of Science in industrial technology from Alcorn State University and has completed advanced training in Lean Manufacturing, project management and FANUC robotics.
