Mississippi Delta Community College Partners with Mississippi Adopt-A-Highway Program
MOORHEAD, Miss. — Mississippi Delta Community College has announced a new partnership
with the Mississippi Adopt-A-Highway Program as part of a community service initiative
focused on promoting environmental stewardship, civic responsibility, and community
pride.
Planning for the project began early in the 2025-2026 academic year as college leadership
and student organizations identified opportunities to expand student engagement through
meaningful service efforts. The process, from initial discussions to final approval
and implementation, spanned several months and required coordination with the Mississippi
Department of Transportation.
The initiative brought together multiple campus groups and leaders, including members
of the MDCC Student Government Association, student volunteers, college administration,
and community partners. The effort was supported by the college’s student leadership
programs, emphasizing teamwork and service-learning opportunities for students.
Following final approval from the Mississippi Department of Transportation and completion
of all required documentation and safety procedures, official Adopt-A-Highway signs
recognizing the MDCC Student Government Association were installed along Highway 3
in Moorhead. The signage reflects the college’s commitment to maintaining and enhancing
a designated section of roadway within the local community.
Through this initiative, the college aims to inspire civic engagement, environmental
awareness, and servant leadership while strengthening connections between the institution
and the communities it serves.
