MDCC Reports 4% Increase in Summer Enrollment

MOORHEAD, Miss. (Aug. 6, 2026) – Mississippi Delta Community College experienced a 4% increase in summer enrollment compared with the previous summer, continuing the college’s recent enrollment growth.

The increase reflects MDCC’s ongoing efforts to expand access to affordable, high-quality education and provide flexible learning opportunities that meet the needs of students throughout the Mississippi Delta and beyond.

“Our continued enrollment growth is a reflection of the extraordinary dedication of our faculty, staff, and administrators who work every day to create opportunities for students and help them succeed. Since the beginning of this administration, we have experienced enrollment growth every semester, and this increase in summer enrollment is another encouraging milestone that demonstrates the positive momentum our college continues to build,” said MDCC President Dr. Steven Jones.

“I want to extend special recognition to our Enrollment Management team, whose commitment, innovation, and tireless efforts have been instrumental in achieving these results. From recruiting prospective students to guiding them through the admissions and enrollment process, they consistently go above and beyond to ensure every student has the support they need to begin their educational journey,” Jones said.

Executive Director of Admissions and Records Valerie Wilson-Wilbert said the Enrollment Management team focused on making the onboarding process easier and more responsive to individual students.

“Students are often overwhelmed by the number of steps required during the onboarding process, so our team focused on meeting students where they are,” Wilson-Wilbert said. “Through in-person meetings, phone calls and email, we provided personalized guidance throughout the process so students felt informed, supported and confident from start to finish.”

“While we are proud of this accomplishment, we recognize there is still important work ahead. We remain committed to growing enrollment, expanding access to high-quality educational opportunities, and ensuring more students have the opportunity to earn the credentials and skills needed for successful careers. Together, we will continue building on this momentum as we fulfill our mission of transforming lives and strengthening the communities we serve,” Jones said.

Registration for the Fall 2026 semester is underway at MDCC locations in Moorhead, Greenville and Greenwood. Fall classes begin Aug. 17.
