Carpentry

Date: September 22 - December 17
Training topics include, but are not limited to, Safety Measures, Builder Math, Wall/Roof Framing, Siding/Roofing Installation, Proper use of hand tools, & Installing windows/doors. This class will meet on Tuesday & Thursday nights.

Commercial Driver’s License Training (CDL) Permit Prep Class

Dates: TBA
Six-week prep course. Prep topics will include, but are not limited to: Driving Safety, Transporting Cargo/Passengers Safely, Air Brakes, Combination Vehicles, Hazardous materials, Pre-Trip Vehicle Inspection, & Basic Vehicle Control Skills Test.

PRE-REQUISITE:  Career Readiness Certificate (CRC), minimum of a bronze certificate

Commercial Truck Driving

Dates: September 14, 2020
Six-week driving course. Trainee will learn how to properly operate the 18 Wheel Semi Trailer and prepare for testing to obtain CDL Class A License. Skills to be learned will include, but are not limited to, routine driving, DOT regulations, backing skills, parallel parking, how to review maps and fill out log books, driving maneuvers as well as general driving behavior. Day class: Monday-Thursday 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.; Night class: Monday, Wednesday, Friday 6 p.m. – 9 p.m.; Saturday 8 a.m. - 12 p.m.

Electrical

Date: January 2021
This is a 5-week class where the student will learn basic electrical skills in either Motor Control or Residential. This class will meet on Monday & Wednesday nights from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at MDCC’s Career-Tech Electrical Lab (located behind the cafeteria on the Moorhead campus).

Electrical Utility Lineman Program

Date: January 2021
Qualified workers in this field are in demand. This 16-week, hands-on course is taught by instructors with lineman experience and specialized education.

Emergency Medical Technician

Date: September 22, 2020
The EMT program provides classroom and laboratory instruction for entry level Emergency Medical Technicians following the current National DOT curriculum. Emergency Medical Technician-Basic is an instructional program that prepares individuals to function in the pre-hospital environment. The EMT-Basic program provides instruction in basic life support care of sick and injured persons. This includes airway assessment, communications, documentation, general pharmacology, hemorrhage control, ambulance operations, and splinting of adult, pediatric, and infant patients; and special care patients exposed to heat, cold, radiation, or contagious disease.

A certificate of completion will be awarded to those who satisfactory complete the EMT curriculum. Upon successful completion of the course, students are eligible to sit for the National Registry for Emergency Medical Technicians Basic Testing.

HVAC

Date: TBD
Training topics include: workplace ethics, theory of heat, safety, tools, equipment and shop practices, and prep for EPA certification. Classes two nights/week, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Capps Center.

Leadership Series Online

The Leadership Series offers a strong foundation in leadership style and management skills. Each class is unique, yet together builds a stronger model for leadership development.

Manufacturing Skills Basic Training

Dates: January 2021
Training topics include: Workplace Ethics & Employer Expectations, Quality Management, Computer Application Technology, Industrial Math, Blueprint Reading & Precision Measurement, OSHA 10-hour Safety, & Forklift Operation. Local companies will interview participants who successfully complete training. This class will meet on Monday-Thursday nights at GHEC.

Medical Administrative Assistant

Date: January 2021
Learn how to keep a physician’s office or clinic running efficiently in this 15 week class. Medical Administrative Assistant will maintain patient’s records; coordinate collection and preparation of operating reports such as time and attendance.

Medical Billing & Insurance

Date: January 2021
This 16-week class will introduce students to health insurance and reimbursement. Students will learn principles of medical billing related to proper claim form preparation, submission, and payment processing, and the follow-up process.

Medical Coding

Date: January 2021
This 16-week course introduces students to the fundamentals of medical coding. This class will teach you the guidelines to use the appropriate codes and how to utilize your coding books.

Medical Terminology & Anatomy/Physiology

Date: January 2021
This 16-week course introduces the student to the medical terminology used in the medical coding and reimbursement profession and covers medical terminology from a coder’s perspective. This course would be valuable for anyone preparing for a career in any non-clinical medical profession. This class is not for college credit.

Pharmacy Technician

Date: Spring 2021
Pharmacy Technicians are sought-after professionals in pharmacies located in hospitals, drug stores, doctors’ offices and grocery stores. This 16-week class will prepare you to take the Pharmacy Technician certification exam, ExCPT.

Virtual Reality

Date: January 2021
This class is a 5-month program where you will learn to develop VR apps and experiences from a story board to a final production with rolling credits.

Welding

Dates: January 2021
Learn about basic MIG, TIG, FCAW, and SMAW welding and safe work practices used at local industries.

Three WorkKeys assessments resulting in a nationally recognized credential that gives employers and job-seekers a standard measure of workplace skills. This certificate will show the employer you will be easy to train for on-the-job skills.

There is no fee to test with a valid MS picture ID.
